Who, How, and Why?

Who?

We are a fairly young family of 10. The children (6 boys and 2 girls) range in ages from 24 down to 9. We do our best to be good neighbors and friends, and for the most part live simple lives. Our greatest enjoyment is spending time with each other, whether it’s playing dominoes, jumping on the trampoline, or just gathering together in the living room to talk or to take turns reading from a book. What friends might say about us recently is that we spend a lot of time working on our Life’s Golden Rule project. We are simple. We love each other.

How?

In the early spring of 2008 we visited an old family favorite restaurant. Even though it had been a few years since we had eaten there we still valued the restaurant as one of the friendliest places around. Needless to say, we were excited to return. Without going into a lot of detail, we were sorely disappointed in the customer service and the overall feel of the place. Something had changed, and it was not the food. That is how we started thinking about Life’s Golden Rule.

Why?

Our experience at the restaurant gave us an idea that we have acted upon. We decided that today’s world could use a little more kindness, a little more love, a little more selflessness, and little more Golden Rule Living. That is why we have put the time, energy, and thought into what is now Life’s Golden Rule. It is our way of doing something good in the world. Our family has put a lot of value in this and we hope you do too!
