I’m So Happy for You!
Way to go!
You did it!
You deserved it!
You are awesome!
How hard is it to genuinely be happy for the success of others? (The key word here is “genuinely.”)
I have seen many instances, and heard of many more, in which because someone excelled at something, they were shunned, talked negatively about, and were outright treated rudely. Have you ever found yourself on either end of that situation?
I remember hearing of a young girl who had many opportunities in modeling, commercials, and television. She was a beautiful, bright, intelligent child, with so much talent. However, hurtful gossip got back to the mother of this girl – gossip that came from jealous friends who instead should have been happy and supportive.
What ever happened to being genuinely happy for other people’s success? Do their achievements and successes somehow make ours smaller or lesser? Of course not! When it comes down to it, we can either share in the joy of others’ success, or we can choose to be unhappy for them. But it doesn’t make much sense to choose unhappiness over joy.
Let us be happy for the success of others – genuinely happy. It is what The Golden Rule is all about: finding happiness in our actions towards others.
